RASHEED BOODHOO’s career as an artist began in the early 1970s with Omowale Stewart at Yoruba Yard and then De Pam. He remained very active on the art scene into the 1980s, taking part in every show until the tragic death of his friend and fellow artist Randolph Baptiste. He spent this sabbatical coaching cycling and swimming and working in the family businesses, music (his other passion) with his brother and food with his mother.

He returned to art in the 2000s and re-joined the Barbados Arts Council to serve as Vice President and President. In 2007 he picked up his camera again and began his journey to becoming a photo-artist. He entered NIFCA and won two bronze medals.

2008 was a momentous year. He exhibited in four shows at the Queens Park Gallery, one at the Caribbean Gallery of Art, and two overseas shows: one in China and one in Russia. NIFCA was a big success that year, because he won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and two additional awards: the ‘Most Improved Photographer‘ and ‘Best Black and White Photo‘.

In 2014 he had a ground-breaking show: ‘Heritage Chronicle‘, at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (UWI), and the following year he released his coffee table book of black and white photographs: ‘Heritage Barbados‘.

He is presently preparing for an overseas show, and for Vision 2025.
